What We Do
Building Michigan’s Education Data Infrastructure
The Michigan DataHub (MiDataHub) is a collaborative, statewide initiative that streamlines how Michigan’s K-12 schools manage, share, and report data. In partnership with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI), and districts across the state, we power the secure data connections that keep Michigan’s education systems running smoothly and in compliance with state legislation.
Data Integration
Powered by the Ed-Fi Alliance’s domain model, MiDataHub supports real-time, secure data exchange between school systems, vendors, and statewide programs. We help reduce duplication, eliminate manual uploads, and ensure that everyone is working from the same accurate data.
Rostering
MiDataHub supports rostering via Ed-Fi API and OneRoster API, enabling districts to sync student and staff data across learning platforms. We also integrate with ClassLink, Clever, and SchoolDay (GG4L), ensuring accurate rosters for instruction, tutoring, and assessment systems — all while meeting compliance requirements.
State Reporting
MiDataHub works in close collaboration with CEPI to simplify and strengthen the Michigan Student Data System (MSDS) reporting process for districts statewide. We don't just help with submissions — we provide real-time access, error reduction, and dependable uptime, ensuring that data continues to move even when core systems are temporarily offline.
Key Features
Real-time reporting via the Ed-Fi API (in production and pilot with multiple SIS vendors)
Data quality validation tools to catch and correct errors before submission
MSDS-aligned prebuilt reports that match CEPI staging reports
XML file creation for direct MSDS uploads
Weekly MSDS Workgroup meetings with districts, CEPI, vendors, and MiDataHub specialists
CEPI Services
MiDataHub provides the integration layer between district systems and CEPI.
UIC Services MiDataHub connects districts to CEPI’s Unique Identification Code (UIC) services, allowing for automated UIC requests and matching — without needing to log in to MSDS manually.
Snack Pack Data Even when MSDS is offline for maintenance, MiDataHub can deliver Snack Pack datasets — essential state-derived student data — directly into a district’s Student Information System (SIS), ensuring continuity of service and minimal disruption.
