The SWIS Suite is a web-based system used by schools to collect, summarize, and analyze student behavior data to support informed decision-making. Michigan DataHub supports optional integrations with SWIS that allow districts to automate the exchange of rostering and referral data. Districts may choose to implement SWIS DataLink Export, SWIS Behavior Import, or both, depending on their needs.

Integration Steps:

Choose Your SWIS Integration

Districts can choose one or both of the following integrations based on their needs:

  • SWIS DataLink Export - automate the nightly transfer of student and staff data to SWIS. Optionally can include Referral data.

  • SWIS Behavior Import - Imports SWIS student behavior data into the Michigan DataHub for reporting and analysis.

Each integration is optional and can be enabled independently

SWIS DataLink Export

The SWIS DataLink Export integration automates the nightly delivery of student, staff, and optionally referral data to SWIS using the SWIS DataLink process. The exports are scheduled to securely send via the SWIS DataLink API each night. Note that to use the referral export successfully your SIS must be sending complete behavior data to the Michigan DataHub.

Getting Started:

    1. Download and complete the MiDataHub Form for PBIS Apps Integration to request access to the DataLink Agency Profile.

    2. Submit a ticket through the Michigan DataHub Help Desk and attach the completed form.

SWIS Behavior Import

The SWIS Behavior Import integration allows districts to import their SWIS behavior data into the Michigan DataHub for reporting and analysis. A district user must have access to the SDEX utility from SWIS. Please note that this integration may result in duplicate behavior data if data is being dual entered in both SWIS and the SIS - if you are unsure or need assistance validating this please open a ticket with the Michigan DataHub.

Getting Started:

  1. Follow the step-by-step instructions provided in the SWIS Inbound Integration documentation. Districts that want to automate ongoing referral data exports from SDEX may also use the PowerShell Script documentation.
