Math Nation uses the MiDataHub API to securely transfer roster data and supports Single Sign-On (SSO) using district Google or Microsoft Active Directory accounts.
For SSO to function correctly, all users (staff, teachers, and students) must have an email address stored in MiDataHub.
API Connection Setup
Follow the steps below to activate the Math Nation integration.
Step 1: Add the API Integration
- Log in to the MiDataHub Management Portal.
- Navigate to API Integrations.
- Select Add Integration button.
Step 2: Select the Integration Options
Choose the following values:
- System Type: Assessment System
- Vendor: Math Nation
- System: Math Nation – v1
- Profile Type: Assessment
Step 3: Allow Math Nation to Access Credentials
Ensure the option “View Credentials in Management Portal” is checked.
When this option is enabled, Math Nation can securely retrieve the Key and Secret needed to connect to your district’s data through the MiDataHub Management Portal. This eliminates the need to send credentials through email or other methods.
If your district prefers to share credentials directly with Math Nation through another secure method, you may uncheck this option and provide the Key and Secret to Math Nation separately.
Step 4: Submit the Integration
Select Submit to create the integration.
Notify Math Nation
After the integration has been created, notify the Math Nation team so they can complete the connection.

In your message, indicate that your Math Nation Key and Secret are available in the MiDataHub Management Portal.
User Provisioning
Once the integration is active, Math Nation will access roster and user data through MiDataHub.
Users will be provisioned in Math Nation if they:
- Exist in the MiDataHub Operational Data Store (ODS)
- Have a valid email address
- Have appropriate staff or student records from the district’s SIS
Verifying Staff Email Addresses
To verify that teachers have email addresses available for SSO:
- Go to the Reporting module in MiDataHub.
- Navigate to Reports → Data Quality → Role Validation.
- Review the report to confirm which staff members have email addresses populated.
Note: Technology staff sometimes do not appear in the data if they do not have a staff record, email address, or school/district assignment in the SIS. These records must exist in the SIS and be published to MiDataHub for the user to be recognized by Math Nation.
Testing the Integration
After Math Nation confirms the integration is active, it is recommended that districts test both:
- A student login
- A teacher login
This ensures that roster data and SSO access are working correctly.
